Well, now that the first mission is over, it's time for a new one. I've posted a wrap-up summary on my personal journal, here.

Here's my next list. )

Here's hoping for more success the second time around!

So a summary of the 101 goals that were amazing and real remember-this-for-life stuff:

My first flying lesson was just all kinds of awesome and I am definitely going to get my pilot's license someday.

Getting tattoo'd. I loved getting my tattoo and decided to get a second. Both my tattoos are slightly unusual, one for the placement and the other for the layout. Both are simple words in beautiful but plain fonts. They both feel right.

Walking across England. This was a recent cross-off but knowing I can walk 100 miles in a week makes me grin from ear to ear.

Winning NaNoWriMo. Writing 50,000 words in a month was insane but so, so much fun once I settled down and worked at it.

Funnily enough, the big goals were either great or terrible but nothing in between...

Soooooo I definitely thought for the longest time that this challenge was supposed to end on September 21st....
And so I already did my final tally.... awkward....

My final count is...DRUMROLL PLEASE )

Here's to 2.75 years of our lives spent (hopefully) in productivity and wish fulfillment! :D

So I hinted at doing some recaps and I thought I'd start with the goals that didn't turn out like I thought they would first of all.

Parchuting - I booked the training for my AFF jump and danced round the room. Got to the airfield on the day and was told the weather was too poor to jump but I could do the training anyway and come back. The training's a full day because I want to do AFF rather than tandem jumping. Tandem is where your strapped to the instructor and basically taught how to fall with as much grace as possible, the AFF I want to do is assisted freefall where you jump solo with instructors on either side of you but you yourself are responsible for your chute and landing. The weather didn't improve for weeks and on the only two days it was okay I was overseas on work commitments I couldn't cancel. I was told my training had expired and I'd have to pay training costs again to be re-trained from scratch. Training was about $700 in the first place and I couldn't afford to gamble another $700 on the weather improving here in England. So I had to settle for training and no jump. Broke my heart but I did everything I could feasibly do to accomplish this goal so I crossed it off.

White water rafting - I booked it, loads of my friends said yes they were coming but let me down. In the end I went on my own. Had a good day but it taught me to not trust anyone unless they follow through on their promises.

Mountain climbing - Climbed two mountains and crossed the goal off twice, then tried to climb a bigger, proper mountain to prove a point. Pride comes before a fall and I learnt to stop being a stubborn brat.

(I'll follow up with The Good and The Overlooked goals soon)

I haven't read the community's posts in ages but have just read five pages very happily checking in on how others are doing. Some part of me finds it stunning that this little corner of the web still has updates on it, given how many 101 goal blogs have died in the last two years and how fast the world moves.

For myself, I'm on track to complete my list of 101 goals by 28SEP2011.

I can't quite believe that the 1001 days is nearly over. I've had such an amazing adventure. I've learnt so much. I've had some of the best and worst experiences of my life as a result of my list.

I had bittersweet experiences with white water rafting, mountain climbing and parachute jumping. I absolutely loved flying a plane for the first time, walking 100 miles in a week and writing a novel for NaNoWriMo.

I'm already thinking about my next list which I'd love to start on 01JAN2012... I see some others are thinking about it too, maybe we should rename the community or begin another for the next list. :)

Like many other peoples, has not gone quite to plan! I re-edited my list a third of the way through due to my hip operation (hey, at least that's one thing completed!) and not being able to do so much in the first 12 months.

My original list is here if anyone wants to look.

But my redone list is Under the cut, so very much on it's way to being something.... )
